Dear Marbelians,

For the last eight years i am happy to be able to visit Koronadal City every year, My place of birth is in the Netherlands but for me, coming to Koronadal is like coming home.
I have seen this city coming to get mature, but looking around i realize there is still a lot to be done.
My question is: What can "normal" citizens, like you and me, do (togehter) to get more investors (read Jobs) in Koronadal, for example: beautification of the city, your own house and lot and surrounding, cleaning up the city and its rivers, in short making it more attractive for visitors and investors.
Don't you think many small investors can make one big one......?
Let's hear from you !

You are right, the place needs some housekeeping. Its
difficult to start when you dont know where to start.
Money will come as soon as investments come in but for investors to come in you have make the place attractive in terms of business climate, peace and order and the beautification of the city. They are all tied in together. You need money to embark on beautification projects. Its like the ageold question of which came fir
st the chicken or the egg?.
Your input and concern is well appreciated and
the people of Marbel do need friends like you.

Hi, Kulaffu,
Thanks for the answers, even i am a bit late in giving a reply.
From my own experience i know you do not need that mucht money for beautification.
We can do a lot by ourselves, let us say for example painting the outside of the houses or walls.
Planting trees and plants in front of our houses.
Just make it look nice.
Let the people give a start to a healthy economy, we can pick the fruits later on....

And for dididi-nelia, it is difficult to give you a straight answer, i always say opportunity lies around the corner, you just have to look for it.
Tourism is not quite developed yet, but there is still a safety concern.

Why don't we all share our ideas on this forum, just give it a new start.!
Maybe in the near future we can work on the ideas in practice and prove to others that normal people can mean more to eachother and the community in Marbel.
Webmaster, here lies a great job for you.
Hope to hear from you soon.

For a minute we thought we lost you!Welcome back Ronald. You are right, we may think a little something cant do anything, but time and time again big things all started from small ones.
One observation and correct me if I am wrong, most houses and buildings looks good after construction but keeping it in good shape/look
seems to be our misgiving.A place looks alot different when color is added.
The cost of paint, to a struggling businessman/homeowner can be prohibitive so beauty takes a backseat..... And beauty is never appreciated by an empty stomach.

Hi, Kulaffu,
Thanks for your reply, glad to be back, i agree, an empty stomach can spoil a lot of things.
Beauty is put in the back seat, and so is your property, after a couple of years painting will not work and you have to renew the materials.
But the idea i had in mind is the simple fact that if the city council wants to attract business...maybe it will be possible to give incentives to those who are willing to join some kind of program.
Even those who can afford paint etc. are not willing to do something about the enviromental beautifation.
P.e. Last elections (2004) spending a lot of money on painting your favourite nominee name on your outside stone fence, painting it over when
he did not win, use only primer paint and do it half-way only.
I will try to give an example....gardens.
Just make a garden (low-fenced)in front of your house...
Why, ah..it looks nice, it keeps out vendors you do not like in front of your house, it is good for the waterhousehold.
If you put concrete everywhere there will be no water drippling in the soil, and in the future there will be no (drinking) water in the ground.
Oh Yeh, trees and plants are good for the enviroment.
Didn't i see a sign somewhere, keep Koronadal clean and green ?
Well, to make a long story short (for this time), it is about time for the city council, the mayor and the people of Koronadal City to make a combined effort.
I am convinced that public property belongs to the public and maintaining it is a mutual responsibility.
I even think it can create jobs, if well handled.
Please think with me...

Hi all.

Although I'm newly relocated here in Koronadal, it is my observation that its city government is doing its best to make the city as a future candidate for an eco-friendly city. There're entreprenuers who are embarking on inland resorts (though i've just visited 3 of these). It's a bold gesture to invest in such considering the political and economic (and security?) situations.

Since Koronadal is an agricultural inland city, I am confident if sustainable ecotourism is put into priority. Or this is happening already.

I wish I could have enough cash to support a good number of developers (on a not-so-pro-bono ) to come-up with a website to entice business and tourism in the region.

This had been my cause- Sustainable ecotourism. BUT, it does need a good financialy backbone to bootstrap its operation. I tried doing the same for Davao but that didnt workout for quite a number of reasons.
